Thoughts on Ryoji Ikeda

Ryoji Ikeda, a renowned Japanese artist based in Paris, is widely recognized for his pioneering work in sound and visual arts. His musical compositions often feature unprocessed sounds, such as sine waves and noise, played at the extreme ranges of human perception. In addition, Ikeda's use of intricate rhythmic patterns, synthesized tones, and noise creates a unique sonic experience that borders on the edge of experimental music. Moreover, his work also blends elements of ambient and lowercase genres, showcasing his ability to craft a mesmerizing sonic environment with little or no pulse.

Drawing inspiration from Ikeda's "datamatics" artwork, this project seeks to explore the invisible world of data that surrounds us. Through user interaction, I invite the audience to translate their input into binary code, which is then used as the source material for our sound and visual compositions. The project aims to follow Ikeda's footsteps in creating a captivating audio-visual experience that delves into the realm of data and perception.
