For this project, I took on the challenge of reinterpreting an existing design by Erich Dieckmann, a famous furniture designer, using structural simulation techniques. By changing the input geometries, support, and loading conditions of the original design, I was able to generate a new topology analysis of the chair that differed significantly from the original.
To explore the possibilities of this new topology, I used the topology analysis data from the grasshopper simulation to generate several three-dimensional forms. These forms were evaluated and refined through an iterative process until an optimal design solution was reached.
Through this project, I was able to learn and apply advanced simulation and modeling techniques to enhance and innovate upon an existing design. This project showcases the potential of using modern design tools to push the boundaries of what is possible in furniture design.
